FIBROID: PREVENTION AND CONTROL

PREVENTION  |  CONTROL  | GOOD EATING HABITS  


In the previous article much was said about fibroid. Now we are going to have a look at ways to help manage these issues and how to prevent these if you do not find yourself in such a situations

WHAT TO DO


If you do not have symptoms or complications with fibroid, you may hold on with its treatment. However this is subject to choice and no medical reason.

But before one may consider a way to treat fibroid it is important to ask ones self these questions before proceeding with any decision. 
  • Do I wish to get pregnant or have more children in the near future?
  • How old am I? Am i near the age of menopause?
  • What is the size of the fibroid?
  • What kind of symptoms do I have?
  • And where is the fibroid located in my uterus?





TREATMENT OPTIONS

Today we will delve into 2 categories that one can vie for to tackle the issue of treatment
  • SURGERY
This is usually done by medical practitioners and it is done in various ways.

  • Hysterectomy - It is the complete removal of the uterus. Medical expects say its the best way to cure fibroid. But this will not be a good option to you if you have hopes of giving birth one day or having more children in the future. However this option is good for menopausal women. And it comes with complications as recovery may take a while.

  • Myomectomy - It is the removal of the fibroid without touching the uterus. One can become pregnant after using this method. Again complications can arise with this method. But people do recover from this. Can cause pain too

  •  Endometrial Ablation - This involves the removal of the lining of the uterus to control bleeding and is recommended for people who bleed a  lot. This works by blocking the supply of blood to the fibroid and uterus so that the fibroid can shrink. However one cannot give birth after this procedure. it can be done at home or in the hospital.

  • Myolosis -  This is the use of radio frequency waves to remove the fibroid growth. The waves go through the body to give a clear picture of where the growth is located and the waves and sound shrink off the growth. This is without surgery. 
With all these options available it is important to note that  with option 2 and 4, there is the tendency for the fibroid to grow again because it is not a permanent solution to prevent fibroid growth.( Mayo Clinic Reports)



  • MEDICATION


This procedure involves the regulation of  symptoms and pain associated with the fibroid growth using medication. Depending on one's symptoms one can take medications to cool down the pain or replenish excess loss of blood due to excess bleeding. You can also use products or supplement that help to regulate hormonal imbalances or the use of hormonal contraceptives

PREVENTION

  • regulate fat control
They also contain essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin A,E,D,K and other fat solubles to balance estrogen levels. Its best to eat these raw. Or when it demands cooking, do not overcook as you may lose the vitamins and minerals in the process.

Good Eating Habits

Eating right is very good, not only to regulate fibroid growth but your entire immune system and body functioning deserves to be treated like a queen.

As we age, its best to cut down on the intake of some meals or eating habits we do


  • Eating heavy meals very late at night. Sometimes it is understandable that work schedules may not favor eating habits but continual practice of this habit can cause one to be obesed or have stomach indigestion or have issues in relation to diabetes or high blood pressure and many more.

  • Taking in lots of sugar or sugary or dairy products - Sugar is converted into energy for our daily use. So a small amount goes a long way. However taking in more quantities of it from time to time may affect ones metabolism and even cause health problems. Avoid taking in lots of carbonated drinks,fizzy drinks,too much sugar or milk in tea, eating sugary snacks,biscuits and pastries.

  • Eating too little just to control weight: There is a better way to control ones diet than just starving and not eating. that is depriving the body of vitamins and minerals it may need to function effectively through out the day. You realize that you begin to feel weak and dizzy and tired easily. Learn potion control and eat just enough for yourself and not starve your self

  • Cut down on the intake of oily,stir-fry meals.  A typical example is the 'indomie' that we eat. It s now become a trend and business that many vendors are getting into. But too much of that is not good for ones health. And all the "kye bom" that we do is not advisable if one wants to stay healthy. taking them once is a while, that's okay. We all have cravings but consistently is where the danger is.

  • Alcohol: Alcohol in its sense is not bad. The problem lies on the excess in take of it. If controlling oneself maybe a problem then its best not to try to take them at all.




WHAT TO DO
If coming home late makes you wanna eat late at night, then try another way. Instead of the heavy meals, you can go light on yourself with with wheat and fiber meals like oats. This meal is a complete meal. Contains less calories and also easy to digest. Go less on milk and sugar too. Try low fat milk and not evaporated. If taking milk makes you lactose intolerant, do not take at all.
